Opus Dei 'Knights' Shield Sandusky and Paterno?

The Penn State pederast scandal has rocked not only the Happy Valley Campus but
every football devotee across the nation. The elderly iconic coach, Joe Paterno, has
fallen from grace along with an assistant by the name of McQueary. The chief culprit
and alleged pederast is Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach for Paterno and his
alleged chicken ranch charity Second Mile. The story has dominated the local and na-
tional news for several weeks.

Former FBI Director Louis Freeh has been assigned to investigate. "We will im-
mediately report any evidence of criminality to law enforcement authorities,"
said Freeh, who has no connection to Penn State."

No Connection to Penn State and those Being Investigated?

One Blogger raises some serious questions about this statement, and there are other
connections that, to my mind, haven’t yet been teased out by news commentators,
which make me wonder even more about the striking parallels between Paterno’s
story and the Catholic abuse scandal. There’s, first of all, the fact that Joe Paterno is not merely Catholic but a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He’s a member of an organization that many survivors of clerical sexual
abuse have considered not their ally but their enemy in their fight to hold
Catholic pastoral officials accountable for their behavior in the abuse cri-
sis.

Jerry Sandusky, whom Paterno protected, has received a coach of the year award
from the Knights of Columbus and has been Knights of Columbus. And, second,
there’s the interesting fact that Philip Jenkins, whose ephebophilia theory, which argues that clerical abuse is largely the abuse of pubescent boys by gay priests and
has given aid and comfort to many apologists for the Catholic hierarchy (including
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League), is a professor at Penn State."

Knights of Columbus Headed by Opus Dei

There IS a connection between Opus Dei and the Knights of Columbus. In fact, the
Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, is high up in Opus Dei.According to Robert Hutchi-
son on pg. 429 of his book, Their Kingdom Come: Inside the Secret World of
Opus Dei, amongst the other dignitaries at the Opus Dei Founder's canonization to
Sainthood was, "Dr Carl A. Anderson, the Supreme Knight of the Knights of
Columbus and senior American member of Opus Dei."

Although Opus Dei is known to deny memberships when questioned, Louis Freeh
was known to attend St. Catherine of Siena Opus Dei Parish as was the infamous
convicted spy Robert Hanssen who was also a member of the FBI and Opus Dei.

"Opus Dei denies that Freeh, Scalia and Thomas are member, though Freeh
sends his son to the Opus Dei School, the Heights, and Scalia's wife is report-
ed to regularly attend Opus dei function. Robert Hanssen, Justic Scalia and
Louis Freeh also all worship at St. Catherine of Siena parish in Great Falls,

Since Anderson heads the Knights of Columbus and is tied to Opus Dei as is Louis
Freeh, just how deep does this story really go?

Speaking about the Knights of Columbus and their financial support of the clerical
pederast deceit Thomas Doyle, who is recognized as the most experienced canon

lawyer in the area of clerical sexual abuse concludes, "They have supported priests
and bishops in their moral bankruptcy and in theri destruction of the bodies
and souls of the victims of abuse."
